Influencing outcomes – Sleep study edition

According to a study, reported by the BBC:

One study found that, on average, couples suffered 50% more sleep disturbances if they shared a bed.

Dr Stanley, who sleeps separately from his wife, points out that historically we were never meant to share our beds.

He doesn’t mention, however, whether or not this was his behavior before before he conducted the study. I’m not contradicting the results of the study, just briefly mentioning that observational biases occur in science all the time. Sometimes we observe what we want to observe.

And sometimes the BBC takes studies completely out of context.

…which I’m wasn’t able to verify: could you fix the link?

      Fixed.

And yes, the MSM media takes studies out of context, but this was a direct quote from the scientist (not his research paper) so I can’t help but wonder…
